The first time i made these, they are finished before they could even cool down that is how good they taste, when made properly with all the ingredients it taste just like mini doughnuts and trust me you cant stop at one , so if you are on a fit-fam lifestyle please this is not for you (lol) cos this will mess up your diet trust me
Lets jump right in to the recipe
INGREDIENTS
Flour 2 cups
sugar 1/4 cup
1 can full cream milk
1 egg
baking powder 1 teaspoon
butter 1/4 cup
Nutmeg 1 teaspoon(very important)
vegetable oil for frying
DIRECTIONS
In a large bowl combine all dry ingredients till they are well mixed , then add in the butter and mix till you get a bread crumb like consistency, then add in the egg and milk and mix till you get a soft dough that isn’t running or too hard , you want to be able to scoop it with your hand and drop in the hot oil without it dripping out .
If your milk isn’t enough to get this consistency then you can add just a few table spoons of water, mix very well and till its all smooth without lumps, and set aside.
Place a deep sauce pan on medium heat , make sure your pan is very deep , this is what will help in making sure your buns comes out looking like buns and not pancakes, now pour in about 1 liter of vegetable oil and allow to heat up , once a drop of water sizzles very fast in the oil, then its ready for frying.
Gently scoop some of the batter using your hands or a deep table spoon and drop into the oil then reduce your heat , repeat this until the pan is almost filled, make sure not to over fill, fill each ball once the other side is golden brown , you will need to watch closely to avoid it browning too fast or getting burnt, once your buns is golden brown all over , remove and strain in a paper towel, serve warm on its own or you can sprinkle with some powdered sugar with juice or any drink of your choice , its super easy to make and very delicious.
