If you read my blog post about Ten Jobs you can do from your home, then you might be wondering how to start off, if you haven’t please do, its super packed and very practical.
Even though working from home seems simple , I must state that it’s not for everyone neither is it simple , it requires a whole lot of discipline and dedication ,which is why am doing this post to give you all the tips you need and all I use to work from home and work EFFECTIVELY!
1) CREATE A HOME OFFICE
Just because you are working from home doesn’t mean you have to be stuck on your bed, the idea is to be as Productive as you would be in an office with the ease and comfort of your home, creating a space that helps you achieve this is the first step to making sure you are focused.
Make this space a place that motivates you to get up, a space that inspires you and helps you achieve you set out goals with regards to your kind of job, just like the name, it’s an office and should look like one.
2) CREATE A WORK SCHEDULE
Once you have your home office set up, the next thing to do is creating a schedule, and you have to be ready to stick to this. Your schedule should contain the following
(a) Time to resume and close , this should be set around your most productive time of the day, if you are most active and Productive at night then that’s what works for you , basically this time must be very convenient and PRODUCTIVE.
(b) task that must be accomplished each day, working from home can make you lazy of you are not determine , and a very good way to put yourself in check is by setting up task for every day , this way you know what you must do and you focus on that and growth starts to take place .
(c) Delegate other home activities and responsibilities so you have enough time to concentrate , food prep , nanny , a weekend with the grandparents , all these are some of the ways you can make sure that there is full concentration.
3) BE SERIOUS
If you want to succeed with working from home you must take it seriously, this is the place of discipline, nurture yourself to take your work seriously , give yourself a treat when you meet deadlines and work extra when you miss one , since you are your own boss , act like one!
4) DRESS THE PART
I know this sounds funny but it works, your dressing affects how you feel and how you feel will in-turn affect your level of professionalism and productivity. That been said , am not saying wear a suit and heels in your home office , but try to look the part ,take a bath, brush up your hair in a ponytail , let go of the pjs , a smart look of good leggings and a fitting shirt will do, no slacks just do your best to look the part .
