Pregnancy is no small fit and it could seem very daunting for first timers, with every new body change, advise from friends and family , the easy access to lots of information off the internet, it just makes sense to know the right websites/blogs to go to for answers, care tips and even tracking of your health and that of your baby during this beautiful time, so after using these sites myself for all 3 of my pregnancies, am sharing them for other mums to be .
To say that google is the first point of call to search for answers in this day and age will be to say it mildy, everyone believes that the anwsers they seek can and will be found on google , while this it true , it could also be misleading as there are so many sites on the search engine that could mislead you or even cause you to panic for something that isnt even serious, hence the need to be sure where to go and find the right answers and tips is very important.
During my first pregnancy there where so many advice i got that didnt really sit comfortably with me , i felt a certain way and i had the need to find out for myself , also i needed to know the whole truth about pregnancy and how our bodies react to it and in the course of my searching i came across some sites/blogs that till date ( 5 years later) i still use and they have been very accurate with their definitions, care tips, pregnancy tracking and even delivery facts.
Without and further delay i will list below the Top 5 Blogs that every pregnant woman needs to know and start using to ensure a smooth pregnancy and ease into the early days of birth .
1 BABY CENTER
This blog is everything you need during pregnancy, from the pregnancy calculator that helps to tell you due dates,to the pregnancy app which helps you keep track of your health and that of your baby, to their mails that come right on time every week, this site is everything and from the first day i discovered them i never let go. They have videos from the first trimester week by week, giving you an insight into how your baby looks and is doing , they also have amazing birth clubs that you can belong to depending on your due dates so you have friends in that club that are due around the same time as you. The site offers you advice from professionals and the best part for me is the comment section where you see real comments from other mums like you , experienced mums , midwives and experts that just respond to your questions and generally make you feel at home in this online community. Also one amazing thing about this site is that they dont leave you once you have your baby, they still send you mails to help you settle into motherhood by sending you what you need to know and expect every week from your baby.
2 WHAT TO EXPECT
They used to be what to expect when expecting and they also are owners of the book ” what to expect when expecting”, they also offer on their website week by week tracking and expert advice plus a ton of articles on pregnancy, they equally cover topics ranging from conception, birth and delivery process, breastfeeding and developmental milestones for babies. Trust me you will love this site and it will come in handy.
3 MOTHER TO BABY
Dont you just wish yo had expert advice on what happens to mother and child during pregnancy when they are exposed to certain things like chemicals, drugs, long use of medications, well this site which is a service of the non- profit organization of Teratology information specialist (OTIS) has all the answers you are loking for. This site will come in handy for questions you might have regarding exposure to cleaning products, manicures, painting, hair dye, medicines and more as they experts who will answer your questions via emails, chat, text or phone calls.
4 EVIDENCE BASED BIRTH
When it comes to pregnancy and child birth , it is best to deal with facts rather than assumptions, this site which was created by Rebecca Dekker, Ph.D, who is a mum and a nurse researcher gives you facts as you need them , this site has a manifesto that includes everyone has a right to the highest standard of childbirth care which for me is essential during pregnancy. With a lot of resources open to parents the site also discusses topics such as the use of massage for pain relief during labor, there is so much you can get from this site during pregnancy.
