I read in the papers today that there is a quite a big shortage in men in down under New Zealand. According to what was reported, it is said that the chances of women in their 30s finding a husband is as good as women in their 80s.This is a rather scary statistics to go by.

According to some studies done, this is not because less baby boys are born in the country. In fact, it starts out with more births of boys than girls and the ratio of boy to girl is higher right up to teen level. Men in the 20s start to “disappear” and this is explained by the fact that many men leave the country to find career opportunities elsewhere in the world. But no one can say for sure which part of the world they’ve mostly gone to.

You may think this is happening just in New Zealand and where we are today, the ratio of men to women is almost equal and balanced, at 1 to 1. That’s the case as I know it when I last checked the country’s gender statistics. But who’s to know when the men will start to venture out of the country to look for career opportunities too? We could very well be facing this situation in many more countries a few years from now.

As the world becomes more globalised and more and more opportunities with big pay cheques come by in the Middle East, China and even Vietnam, we will soon see the trend of men moving out of the country. As it is, many are already doing this.

So ladies, if you are starting to find it hard to find your perfect mate, and you’re thinking it’s because you’re too fussy or picky, well it may not be so. Maybe you aren’t looking in the right place as the men aren’t there!
