It’s an open secret – when a woman says no, she means yes. Of course that is not always true. Come on ladies, we do have to admit that half the time we say no, we really are saying yes on the inside. Do these lines sound familiar to you?

Man: Do you want me to pick you up, honey?
Woman: No. (But I mean yes, so pester me some more!)

Man: Would you like me to buy this pendant for you?
Woman: No. (YES! YES! YES!!)

Man: You want me to help out with the dishes?
Woman: No. (I’m waiting…)

Man: I’m going out for a couple of beers with my buddy. You don’t mind right?
Woman: No. (What?! Don’t you want to spend time with me?)

Man: Are you upset with me?
Woman: No. (You are such an idiot!)

So there you have it. Our no is really a silent yes. We’re just waiting for guy to do the right thing. In our mind, we’re thinking that if the guy cares enough, he should know what to do to make us happy. He should also know what we want without us having to say it. Because we know these stuff about a guy, so we have the same expectations that a guy should know it too.

Alas, that is far from true and holding on to that expectation will only cause more distress to the woman. Guys are straight forward creatures. If you say the answer is one, they will take it as that. They don’t ponder and analyse like we do and make our own assumptions on what lies behind that answer or tone. So it’s best to say what you want and not play the guessing game. You will only end up being frustrated that the guy is not getting it!

Having said that, some guys are pretty well learned. They know exactly when your no means yes and this is definitely a great delight to the women. But no matter how good a guy is at second guessing a woman, I got a feeling that the workings of a woman is just too complicated for him to always figure out what she wants.

By all means go ahead and have some fun and thrill at having him surprise you by doing what you silently wish for…but remember not to expect him to get it all the time. It’s a bonus when he does!
