While I read this morning’s newspapers, I felt rather sadden by the turn of events in the brand new year. The killings in Gaza is totally cruel, especially when I see pictures of the lifeless bodies of young kids flashed across our papers on the front page. The look of agony on the father’s face is enough to send tears to my eyes as I can imagine the kind of pain that strikesĀ a parent to seeĀ his innocent children lying dead. It’s a terrible nightmare.

As I turned the page, there was another article about a mother and daughter who shoplifted because they had no money to buy food stuff for their family. It’s yet another sad story that poverty could trigger anyone to commit crimes just to feed their loved ones.

And then there was an attempted murder where a robber pulled the trigger on his gun to shoot a man he was robbing, but thank goodness his gun jammed. That prevented another innocent life from lost just like that. There were more endless news about people being murdered and others being assaulted.

The newspapers to me these days are just bearer of bad news. We can’t blame people for not wanting to read them anymore. The world is just becoming such a mess. It’s quite sad. What has the world come to? Some believe that the end of the world is near, but I do think it’s a bit too far-fetched and negative to think that it is all coming to an end right now.
