Have you been on a blind date before? If yes, how do you feel about it? I’ve known some ladies who sign up with match-making and speed dating agencies and get introduced to strangers as blind dates. At the first sound of it, blind dates seem quite fun, full of anxiety. But over time, I believe it may not be so anymore. Unless you don’t mind meeting new people and take these blind dates as just a chance to know someone new or making friends.

For some, blind dates are only for desperados, while others may find it just another casual dating game. For those who are looking for their life partners, going on blind date after blind date, it can be frustrating that they’re just not finding THE date. But yet, nowadays, blind dating seems to be a common way for women to meet new people and a chance of finding true love.

Blind dates may seem harmless, but I do caution women about it. If you have not already read, there have been many cases of blind dates that ended up with many girls being harmed. Since you do not know who the guy is, you will never know what he is capable of and what the true intention of the blind date is. Many unfortunate girls were raped by their blind dates and many others have also experienced not so pleasant times with their blind dates.

It is safer to go for blind dates who are friends of your friends. This means to say that these blind dates are set up by your friends with their guy friends. This should be a safer option, but still, you need to exercise caution anyhow. You just never know.

Nevertheless, blind dates can be fun events for many. By all means, go ahead and enjoy yourself, have a good time. Just be careful and don’t be too trusting of someone you hardly know.

Earlier I wrote about a date rape drug called Burundanga (read the post and readers’ comments here). Many have responded to the post to say that the story told about the use of Burundanga was a hoax. Nevertheless, I think all women should be aware of the existence of such a drug, whether the story was a hoax or not. Another common story I’ve heard about yet another date rape drug is Progesterex, which is said to be commonly used by vets to sterilise large animals. Imagine what this drug could do to a human body!

In this article, I will post the email as I’ve received it. Whether or not the story is true, I think we need to take precaution. Don’t let yourself be a victim to any kind of drugs. Take care of yourself. It’s way too easy to spike a drink these days so be alert, don’t take things for granted and always, always trust your instincts.

Here’s the story of how Progesterex is used as a date rape drug.

A woman at the nightclub in Cobar on Saturday night was taken by 5 men, who according to hospital and police reports, gang raped her before dumping her. Unable to remember the events of the evening, tests later confirmed the repeated rape along with traces of Rohypnol in her blood, with Progesterex, which is essentially a small sterilization pill. This drug is now being used by rapists at parties to rape and sterilize their victims. Progesterex is available to vets to sterilize large animals.

Rumor has it that Progesterex is being used together with Rohypnol, the date rape drug. As with Rohypnol, all they have to do is drop it into the girls drink. The girl can’t remember a thing the next morning, of all that had taken place the night before. Progesterex, which dissolves in drinks just as easily, is such that the victim doesn’t conceive from the rape and the rapist needn’t worry about having a paternity test identifying him months later.

The drugs effects are not temporary- They are permanent! Progesterex was designed to sterilize horses. Any female who takes it will never be able to conceive. The bastards can get this drug from anyone who is in vet school or any university. It’s that easy, and Progesterex is about to break out big every where. Believe it or not, there are even sites on the Internet telling people how to use it.

Please COPY this to everyone you know, especially girls. Be careful when you’re out, and don’t leave your drink unattended. Please make the effort to pass this onto all you know.

Guys, please inform all your female friends and relatives. Girls, keep your drinks safe at all times, and men, look after the girls you’re with. Please pass this on to all your friends and family.

Thank you

A man came over and offered his services as a painter to a female putting gas in her car and left his card. She said no, but accepted his card out of kindness and got in the car.The man then got into a car driven by another gentleman. As the lady left the service station, she saw the men following her out of the station at the same time. Almost immediately, she started to feel dizzy and could not catch her breath. She tried to open the window and realized that the odor was on her hand; the same hand which accepted the card from the gentleman at the gas station.

She then noticed the men were immediately behind her and she felt she needed to do something at that moment. She drove into the first driveway and began to honk her horn repeatedly to ask for help. The men drove away but the lady still felt pretty bad for several minutes before she could finally catch her breath. Apparently, there was a substance on the card that could have seriously injured her.

This drug is called ‘BURUNDANGA‘ and it is used by people who wish to incapacitate a victim in order to steal from or take advantage of them.

This drug is four times more dangerous than the date rape drug and is transferable on simple cards. So take heed and make sure you don’t accept cards at any given time alone or from someone on the streets. This applies to those making house calls and slipping you a card when they offer their services.

For a year years now I’ve heard that most plastic bottles are harmful. Here’s a little attempt to help more women understand why this is so.

Most of us re-use mineral water bottles or even soft drink bottles as containers at home or to bring out to offices or simply just to leave a spare bottle of water in the car for just-in-case purposes. Now, before you do this, know that it is especially bad to leave bottles in the car where the bottles are exposed to sunlight and therefore tend to be heated. When the plastic bottles are heated, they release harmful chemicals and they sip into the water. Continuous and excessive consumption of such chemicals can cause the ingestion of carcinogen in the body. For more details of what carcinogen is and how it relates to cancer, you can refer to information shared about it on Wiki.

Having said the above, it is also good news to note that not all plastic bottles or containers are harmful. There are many grades of plastics used to product bottles and containers, and you can actually see the difference by different codes printed on the plastic containers. Most of these codes are found at the bottom of the container or bottle. The code is in the form of a number, from 1 to 7. As an example, the code would normally look like this:

The higher the number, the safer the bottle. Generally, as a rule of thumb, plastic containers with number 7 are safest to use. Most polycarbonate containers are numbered 7 and therefore more recommended than any other types of bottles. These are largely available in the market today from small bottles to large containers, so do yourself a favour and use these instead of re-using the ones you buy drinks in. By all means recyle those bottles by putting them in the recycle bins, but not in your home as re-usable bottles.

If you still do not feel comfortable with the use of plastics, you can always opt for glass containers as this is definitely a better choice than plastic. For parents concerned about their babies’ milk bottles, you can check the numbering at the bottom of the milk bottle too. Most of them should be 7 and are steamer safe for your to regularly sterilise them. There are glass alternatives too even for milk bottles but then again, you might want to consider the practicality and safety of using glass for kids since it’s easily breakable.

Let’s stay well.

We only used to hear of horrible crimes like house break-ins and robberies happening in the nights along dark alleys and quiet streets. But in today’s society, we know that assumption doesn’t hold true anymore. Nowadays, in broad daylight, people are robbed, kidnapped, beaten up and worse yet, killed. Some of these crimes can even happen in crowded places.

The most common crimes affecting many women right now are snatch thefts and robberies on the roads. I’ve received countless emails bearing warnings of how these daring criminals are going about robbing and hurting people. I’m sure you’ve had your fair share of such emails too.

Insurance companies and banks selling insurance policies are now capitalizing on such crimes to push theft policies to customers. I’ve had at least three calls from three different banks offering assurance that in the case I get robbed (touch wood), my credit cards would be safe upon activating a report of the incident. There are also policies that protect against the losses you suffer in case of robberies. Such are the times we live in today.

Since women are the most targeted group, here are some simple tips to be safe on the streets. They are very simple but yet many people do not practice them. Don’t underestimate some of these little adjustments you can make in your life to avoid untoward incidents.

A profiling of some robbers were done in another study where they were asked what traits in a woman tend to attract their attention as targets. Not surprisingly, a woman having long hair was said to be one of the signs. This is because they find it easy to immobilize a woman by holding onto her hair. So long-haired women, bear in mind you are more likely targets compared to ladies with short hair! This is not to say you should cut away beautiful locks, this is only for you to take note.

When driving, don’t put your handbag (or any bags for that matter) on the front passenger seat. These days, robbers on bikes will break and shatter your glass window just to grab your bag and speed off. Try to place your bag in a place that is not visible to others, for example under the seat (if you bag is small enough to fit the space, that is). You may even place it on the flooring of the car if you do not mind risking a little dust at the base of the bag. Putting it on the back passenger seat is equally dangerous, so if you have to put it in the bag, try to make it inconspicuous. The key thing here is to not let your bag be in sight.

Whenever you step into your car, lock it immediately and let it remain locked at all times. If someone comes up to your car asking for something, do not wind down the window or unlock your car.

While walking on the street, try as much as possible to walk in the opposite direction of the oncoming cars. That way, you won’t be caught unaware of what’s coming towards you. It is unlikely that a robber on his bike will drive in the wrong direction to get to you. Having said that, you should still be alert as some bikers do drive up the curb and on the pedestrian walkway. Also, carry your bag on the side that is away from the roads. Always have your eyes wide opened and your ears sharp on what’s going on around you. Some robbers may also be on foot, so you need to be alert always.

Try not to chit chat on your mobile phone while you are walking on the streets. More often than not, when you are on the line, you become less alert to your surroundings and become easy targets. It was also revealed in some studies that women who carry themselves confidently also tend to deter robbery attempts. So whilst being alert and mindful, you also do not want to appear paranoid and in fear.

If you live in a landed property where you drive your car into your home compound, it will be worthwhile to invest in automated gates. When you have driven into your own compound, do not unlock your car door or get down before your gate is completely closed. As you wait for your gate to close, take a quick glance at your rear or side mirrors to check that the path is clear behind you. If you do not have an automated gate installed, then make it quick when you get down to unlock your gate. Before you get down from the car, take a quick scan to make sure nothing is amiss.

Always ensure that your handbag is properly closed. These days, more and more women favour bags that have a end-to-end zipper to avoid having things fished out. If you commute by train which is normally packed, you need to take extra precaution on this.

If you are unlucky enough to come face to face with someone who is armed, do not struggle with your belongings. Just give them up and hope that they leave you alone. As much as possible in a state of fear and panic, try to remain calm. Only when you have a clear mind you can think on your feet and not act impulsively. Sudden acts of aggression may cause the robbers to harm you instead.

Don’t assume you’re safe and that no such things will happen to you. With so many horror stories going around, there really isn’t any place safe unless you take conscious efforts to stay out of such attempts. Victims are usually randomly picked although some are watched and targeted. So whatever you and wherever you are ladies, be safe!
