How could a mother allow her daughter to be raped by her father?
As a mother, I am fiercely protective of my child. I wonder then why some mothers can tolerate their child being abused and not do a thing. I’m referring to the case of Elisabeth Fritzl who was imprisoned in a dungeon by her father for 24 years, and who endured being raped repeated and bearing her father’s seven children. While all this was going on, Elisabeth’s mother was unable to rescue Elisabeth from such abuse.
No matter how much you may love your husband, or how fearful you are of him, I am quite sure a mother’s love for her kids is very much stronger. The protective instincts of a mother, I would think, would give her the strength and determination to do whatever it takes to safe her children.
I’m not badgering Elisabeth’s mother nor saying that it is her fault for keeping mum about her daughter’s captivity, but I am just baffled that she as a mother could bear with the guilt of letting such bad things happen to her daughter.

In that kind of environment, you cannot blame her as she was also mentally and physically abused until she is irrational. It is very sad when women are subjected to abuse and did not seek outside help.

I’m sure there are plenty of other silent victims out there. If only they could brace themselves out to seek help…
